Typical Day at Stone River Recovery Center

An Example Day at Stone River Recovery Center
A structured daily routine is a key part of the recovery process. At Stone River Recovery Center, each day is carefully planned to provide a balance of therapy, wellness activities, and personal reflection. Every part of the schedule is designed to support healing, growth, and lasting recovery. Below is an overview of what a typical day in residential treatment looks like.
7:00 AM - Wake-Up and Morning Hygiene
The day begins with a gentle wake-up routine, allowing clients time to freshen up and prepare for the day ahead. This sets the tone for self-care and mindfulness.
7:30 AM - Morning Smoke Break
For those who smoke, this is an opportunity to enjoy a break while connecting with peers in a relaxed setting.
8:00 AM - Breakfast, Medication Pass, and Morning Break
A nutritious breakfast is served to fuel the body and mind. Clients also attend to any prescribed medications during this time, ensuring physical health remains a priority.
9:00 AM - Morning Movement and Reflection
Groups gather for movement and reflection sessions, tailored to energize the body and center the mind. Activities may include light exercise, stretching, or mindfulness practices, helping clients start the day with focus and intention.
10:00 AM - First Therapy Group of the Day
Clients participate in an evidence-based group therapy session, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This time is spent exploring thought patterns, learning coping strategies, and building skills for long-term recovery.
12:00 PM - Lunch and Midday Break
A balanced lunch is provided, offering clients a chance to recharge. This is also a time to socialize with peers and staff, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
1:00 PM - Specialized Therapy or Skill-Building Groups
Afternoons include focused sessions such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety, or Relapse Prevention. These groups address specific challenges and provide actionable strategies for managing emotions, triggers, and life’s complexities.
3:00 PM - Wellness Activity
Clients engage in activities like yoga, art therapy, or journaling, which promote self-expression and relaxation. These sessions are designed to nurture creativity and emotional well-being.
4:00 PM - Evening Smoke Break
Another opportunity to step outside, take a breath, and reset before evening activities.
5:00 PM - Dinner and Evening Medications
Dinner is served family-style to emphasize connection and shared experiences. Clients also have the chance to take any evening medications.
6:00 PM - Evening Group Therapy or Educational Workshops
Evenings focus on group discussions or workshops, covering topics such as shame resilience, archetypes, or relapse prevention. This time helps clients reflect on their progress and gain new insights.
8:00 PM - Reflective Wind-Down Activity
As the day comes to a close, clients participate in reflective activities like guided meditations, gratitude journaling, or storytelling. This supports emotional processing and relaxation before bedtime.
9:00 PM - Free Time and Bedtime Preparation
Clients can use this time to unwind, read, or connect with others. Staff encourage relaxation to prepare for a restful night.
